News From The Center

At the NEC, we look forward to spring on the North Coast and the opportunities that a new season can bring. The NEC is no stranger to change and we appreciate all who’ve been supportive through the recent transitions.

Some of our members have been asking about the annual event, it’s time to announce yet another change.

Traditionally the NEC has held our annual event - a dinner and art auction - in April. Because our focus has been in other areas, we’ve decided to switch the timing of our event to September – and we are also making some changes to the nature of the event.  On September 18, after the North Country Fair, your NEC will host a special celebration including an All Species Ball, silent auction, music, dancing and many other fun activities.

If you’re the sort of person who thinks planning a party is just as much fun as the party itself: We need you!  We’re looking for folks to help in specific areas such as decorations, activities, silent auction donations, raffles and other coordinated events to take place throughout the evening.

We will be holding our first event planning session on Thursday, April 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It’s our hope that long-time NEC supporters will offer their ideas and energy and we also encourage new volunteers to participate. You can sign up for this and other volunteer activities by calling the center at 822.6918 or by emailing tara@yournec.org.

Enjoy the longer days and spring blossoms - and don’t be a stranger!  Visit us in Jacoby’s Storehouse Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 1p.m. and Fridays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.  We’re also open for Arts! Arcata every 2nd Friday of the month.
